Soovijatel on võimalik saada seminaril osalemise eest 3 EAP. Ainepunktide saamiseks peab osalema ka 13. mai kontserdil (EMTA kammersaal, kell 19:00), kus kantakse ette Chopini teoseid Poola noorte õppejõudude/doktorantide esituses ja kirjutama essee, mis käsitleb mõlemaid üritusi.

Students will be awarded 3 ECTS points by attending both lectures and the concert on May, 13 and completing a response essay to both the lectures and the concert (it is recommended to draw parallels between the concert and the lectures in the essay). The concert takes place in EAMT Chamber Hall at 19:00 and is related to Prof Paweł Kamiński's research and performance activities.

Loengute lühitutvustus/ Short introduction:

The Role of the Urtext in the Performance of Chopin's Works.

What is an urtext edition and how is it prepared. Why are there differences between urtext editions and how to determine which ones are more reliable. The importance of the source and performance commentaries. Examples of Chopin's notation and its characteristic features. Examples of mistakes and inaccuracies in modern editions of Chopin's works. Benefits of using a good urtext edition. Few reflections on ethical dimension of performing Chopin's works.

The Score as Instruction and Inspiration. On Reading the Musical Notation.

What is and what is not written in the score. Different meanings of slurs and dots. Mutual relations between elements of score. Examples of misunderstood notation in recordings. Understanding rhythms – well-known and obsolete notational conventions. How to approach and understand a score.

 

Elulugu
Poola pianist prof. Paweł Kamiński töötab 1983. aastast alates Chopini nim. Muusikaülikoolis, alates  2013. aastast professori ning klaveriosakonna juhatajana. Kamiński on 1984. astast alates teinud koostööd prof. Jan Ekie­riga F. Cho­pini kogutud teoste toimetamisel, olles kõigi 37 köite kaastoimetajaks. Nimetatud kogu on välja andnud Poola Rahvuslik Fryderyk Chopini Teoste Fond (Fundacja Wydania Narodowego Dzieł Fryderyka Chopina) koostöös kirjastusega „Wydaw­nic­two Muzycz­ne”. Tegutsenud 1998. aastast alates ühtlasi nimetatud fondi esimehena, on prof. Kamiński Chopini teoste väljaandmisel omadatud väärtuslikke kogemusi jaganud muusikateaduslikel konverentsidel ning muusikakõrgkoolides Austrias, Prantsusmaal, His­paa­nias, Saksamaal, Poolas, Venemaal, Ser­bias, Šveitsis, Türgis, Ungaris, Suurbritannias, Itaalias, USA-s, Kanadas, Jaapanis ja Hiinas. Prof. Kamiński ettekanded käsitlevad eelkõige Chopini teoste alg- ehk urtextide toimetamise ning interpretatsiooniprobleeme.

Muusikateadusliku töö kõrval on ta esinenud orkestrisolisti ja soolopianistina nii kodumaal Poolas kui ka välsimaal. Samuti on ta oselnud mitmete klaveriskonkursside zürii töös. Oma pedagoogilises töös on tal suurepäraselt õnnestunud ühendada urtextide-alased teadmised praktiliste esinemiskogemustega pöörates erilist tähelepanu teksti loomingulisele tõlgendamisele ning väljendusrikkale esitusviisile.

Biography

Polish pianist Paweł Kamiński workes since 1983 at the he Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music (FCAM), since 2013 as professor and head of the faculty. Since 1984 he has been cooperating with Professor Jan Ekier on editing the National Edition of Complete Works by F. Chopin (WN). He was a co-editor of all 37 volumes published by the Foundation of the National Edition and the Polish Music Publishers. Works on the WN resulted in a number of speeches at musicologist conferences and lectures at universities and schools in Europe (Spain, Germany, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Hungary), America (USA, Canada) and Asia (Japan, China); their issues are connected with editing and using the critical source editions (“urtexts”) in the performance practice.
Since 1998  Kamiński  has been Chairman of the Foundation of the National Edition of Complete Works by F. Chopin.
He has given concerts in Poland and abroad by participating – as a soloist – in symphony concerts and by giving recitals and semi-recitals.
