Since her first piano recital at the age of ten, the Viennese pianist plays a prominent role as soloist, chamber musician and teacher in the international musical life. She soon has performed regularly in the major concert halls in Vienna as a soloist and with orchestra. She finished her studies with honors at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and at the Tschaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. Among her teachers were Richard Hauser, Dieter Weber, Eliso Wirsaladse, Lev Naumov and Wilhelm Kempff. At the age of seventeen she was the youngest prize-winner at the International Beethoven Competition. Solo engagements have taken her through Europe, Canada, Mexico and the Near East.
Christiane Karajev got involved intensely with Chamber-music as the pianist of the Beethoven Trio Vienna in 1985.
The ensemble established an international reputation as one of the leading Austrian Piano Trios, touring regularly the States, Japan and Europe until 1999. The Trio has been recording a number of CD’s ( label: Camerata). Recent projects and engagements include Solo Recitals, Piano Duo concerts, chamber music as well as ‘music and letters’- concerts and dance/music-performances.
Christiane Karajev has been teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna for 30 years. She has been invited regularly for master-classes to Austria, Finland, Japan and Korea. Her teaching method focuses on an efficient, economical, piano-playing technique and the philosophy of simplicity.
